- Switzerland urges citizens to leave Lebanon

The Swiss government is urging all its citizens to leave the Lebanon. Following the killing of political leader of the Islamic Hamas, Ismail Haniyah in Tehran and a high-ranking commander of the Shia militia Hezbollah, Fuad Shukr in Lebanon, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) states: "The escalation risk has increased further.... The FDFA recommends that Swiss nationals leave the country using their own means if it appears possible and safe to do so."

Tensions between Israel and Lebanon have been growing for months. Hezbollah has been firing rockets into Israel, with Israel responding with air strikes in the neighboring country. Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran have announced retaliation for the killing of Haniyah and Shukr, threatening Israel.

The escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon, triggered by the killings, have amplified the risk of the conflict further. Given the FDFA's advice, it's crucial for Swiss nationals to carefully consider leaving Lebanon due to the heightened situation.
