Trailer-truck rolls over during "family outing"
At the time of the accident, the truck was navigating a steep, gravel-covered forest road and lost control, leading the trailer to roll over, according to police. The nine children and the woman were aboard the trailer. The event was a private gathering, with the police referring to it as a "family outing". The children were reportedly the offspring of numerous close-knit families, a spokesperson shared. Besides the fire department and emergency services, the disaster response team also responded to the scene. The trailer was righted later that day.**
The police are currently treating the incident as an accident. As per standard protocol in such cases, investigations regarding potential reckless bodily harm charges towards the driver have commenced.
Other incidents involving trailer-trucks
Recently, there have been several significant accidents involving trailer-trucks.
In mid-August, a trailer detached from a truck and overturned in the Nürnberger Land region of Bavaria, causing injuries to 15 individuals on the trailer. Preliminary police investigations suggested that the group was en route to a church festival. In May, 14 people were injured during a journey in a trailer drawn by a truck (Kremser) in the Thuringian district of Eichsfeld on Ascension Day. A similar accident also took place in Kadern, Baden-Württemberg, resulting in 29 injuries.
The critical condition of the three children and the woman initially suggested a life-threatening situation, but thankfully, their condition has improved and they are no longer in immediate danger of death. Despite the improved situation, investigations are ongoing to determine if any reckless actions by the truck driver contributed to the accident.
