Regrettably, there's been no contact established with the two individuals ensnared within the icy confines. The two survivors of the ordeal, meanwhile, sustained severe injuries.
One casualty was airlifted to a medical facility in the city center of Reykjavik, as reported by RÚV. The rescue crews maintained three helicopters in readiness, guarding against potential additional injuries. A vacationer, who had ventured into the cave mere minutes prior to the incident and only learned of it upon their return to the lodging, stated the depth of the collapse to be approximately three to five meters.
Found in the southeast of the Atlantic island, the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier serves as an outlet for the renowned Vatnajökull glacier, anchored at the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon.
