- Suspected sabotage at military airfield: abnormal water levels

Investigations into sabotage at the Air Force base in Cologne-Wahn were triggered by warnings about a change in the quality of the tap water, according to the German Armed Forces. Subsequently, a hole in the fence was discovered, which could indicate a break-in, a military spokesperson said outside the military area. Reports of illness cases could not be confirmed, but abnormal water values were mentioned.

Investigators are looking into irregularities at a waterworks on the Cologne-Wahn airbase, suspecting a criminal act against the German Armed Forces. The base was closed for hours, preventing anyone from entering or leaving. Several units are stationed at the base, including the Air Force's flight readiness service, responsible for the travel of cabinet members and high-ranking officials.

The investigations into the waterworks issue led authorities to suspect sabotage at a different location within the Cologne-Wahn airbase. Closing down the base for a while was necessary to ensure the safety of personnel stationed at the nearby flight readiness service.
