suspected confidant reveals potential arms deal agreement worth up to 15 billion euros by Pistorius

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius aims to significantly boost the artillery ammo procurement contract, potentially reaching a whopping 15 billion Euro. A confidential memo about this proposition was sent to the Budget Committee of the German parliament, as per a reliable source, Reuters reports.

The proposal suggests increasing the overall quantity of ammo by nearly 2 million rounds, bringing it to around 2.35 million rounds of 155-millimeter ammo for the Panzerhaubitze 2000. This contract with Diehl Defence and Nammo Raufoss was first unveiled by "Der Spiegel".

Apparently, the initial order of 200,000 shells valued at roughly 1.3 billion Euro for domestic production is to be made for the years 2024 to 2031. The committee is scheduled to vote on July 3.

FDP budget representative, Karsten Klein, informed Reuters that ammo is crucial for the longevity of the military and a vital aspect of deterrence. Consequently, the budget has been markedly augmented. Klein went on to say, "On the whole, I endorse the endeavors to carry on this way. However, we'll scrutinize the current proposition carefully."
