Suspect from Solingen proposed for expulsion in 2023
The person apprehended following the knife attack in Solingen was initially set to be expelled to Bulgaria, as reported by RTL/ntv. The expulsion had been scheduled last year, but his asylum request had previously been turned down. He managed to evade deportation by going into hiding for half a year. He resurfaced in Solingen after that duration.
The man, hailing from Syria, was not sent back after reappearing. Instead, he was housed in a refugee shelter in Solingen. No further deportation proceedings were initiated after that.

According to sources from the German Press Agency, the man ventured into the European Union through Bulgaria. However, since he fled to Germany and remained in hiding, his deportation was temporarily halted. Consequently, he was moved to Solingen, which is sometimes referred to as "the world."
