In LA, game developers are frequently showcasing their newest video games during the summer. Ubisoft has a strong reputation for incorporating real horses into their games. This year, a game developed in Germany is making waves.

2024 is proving to be a successful year for Ubisoft, and there's still more to come. At the Ubisoft Forward event in LA, they've got not one, but two highly anticipated triple-A titles as well as a classic from Germany.

"Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown" was a surprise hit for Ubisoft in the spring. Fans had anticipated a different genre, but they were hooked by this side-scroller with complex obstacle courses, thrilling puzzles, and tough boss battles. At this Ubisoft Forward event, Prince of Persia fans should be ready to pay - the original "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" is being re-released.

Ubisoft has two major titles in the spotlight, "Star Wars: Outlaws" and "Assassin's Creed: Shadows." While "Outlaws" takes advantage of the massive "Star Wars" franchise, they're not going the usual route of Jedi knights and lightsaber duels. Instead, players take on the role of thief Kay Vess, traveling to the edge of the galaxy to execute a major heist. The unconventional approach has the potential to be a hit, as ntv.de found in their Los Angeles testing. "Outlaws" definitely captures the "Star Wars" spirit.

"Assassin's Creed: Shadows" also takes place in feudal Japan, a territory that's already seen success in games like "Ghost of Tsushima" and "Nioh" from other developers. Ubisoft is bringing a bit of Hollywood to this series, as well. The game follows the time-honored storyline: the centuries-long struggle between the Assassins Brotherhood, who fight for peace and freedom, and the Templar Order, who seek peace through control. The two protagonists are unique in their approaches to missions: Yasuke employs brute force, while Naoe uses stealth.

The real treat comes from the studios in Mainz. Ubisoft has announced "Anno 117: Pax Romana" for 2026. Fans of the economic simulation series can expect to see economic growth and prosperity in the Roman Empire. Players can choose to rule as a civilized Roman or Roman woman, or as a member of one of the Celtic tribes.

This new installment in the Anno series is also benefiting from government funding in Germany. The Ministry of Economics invested 5.7 million euros into the development of an unknown game in 2023. The location of the Mainz studios was already known, and now we know gamers can look forward to "Anno 117: Pax Romana."
