Weather forecast - Summer weather doesn't last long

After the sun comes the rain: The weather in Germany will consist of a mix of rain, heat, and sunshine in the coming days. On Thursday, it will remain warm with some clouds, according to the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach. In Southeastern Bavaria, there may be denser cloud formations and a few drops. It may rain lightly in the northwest of the country in the evening. The highest temperatures will be between 22 and 27 degrees, up to 29 degrees in the southwest.

The weekend will be unsettled

"The Northwest will once again be influenced by Atlantic low-pressure systems on Friday," said meteorologist Christian Herold from the DWD. This results in many dense clouds and heavy, showery rain. However, in the southeastern half, the DWD expects longer sunny stretches and, aside from a low risk of showers in the Alps and in the vicinity of the Main and Neckar rivers, a dry day. The thermometer will climb to 22 degrees in the northwest, and higher to summery 25 to 30 degrees elsewhere.

"A cold front with showers and thunderstorms and heavy rain showers will pass through us on Saturday," said Herold. In a band from North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, and the Saarland to the Baltic Sea and Oder, many clouds and showery, thundery rain are expected. Additionally, there is a risk of prolonged heavy rain and thunderstorms.

No sign of stable summer weather!

From the High Rhine and the Alps to Eastern Bavaria and the Neisse, it will remain sunny and dry on Saturday initially. However, showers and thunderstorms can also occur in these areas during the day. The temperatures diverge: Up to 20 degrees at the North Sea, up to 33 degrees in Southeastern Bavaria.

"After a brief cooling, the unsettled weather continues," explained the meteorologist. A stable summer high pressure system is not yet in sight.

  1. Despite the mixed weather forecast for Germany, Southeastern Bavaria might experience denser cloud formations and a few rain drops, affecting the Alps as well.
  2. Christian Herold, a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach, predicts heavy, showery rain in the northwest of Germany on Friday, due to the influence of Atlantic low-pressure systems.
  3. On Saturday, a cold front with showers and thunderstorms, as well as heavy rain showers, will pass through many parts of Germany, according to Herold, including North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, the Saarland, and the Baltic Sea and Oder regions.
  4. Even in the Alps and Eastern Bavaria, the weather remains unpredictable for the weekend, with some areas experiencing sunny and dry conditions initially, while others may encounter showers and thunderstorms during the day.
