German Ice Hockey League - Stumer Karjalainen leaves the Augsburg Panthers

Ice hockey-pro player Jere Karjalainen will not return to the Augsburg Panthers after the summer. The Finnish forward and the Bavarian DEL team could not agree on a new contract. The 32-year-old scored 13 goals and made 20 assists in 50 games for the Fuggerstadters in the previous season.

The Augsburg team is now looking for a replacement. "We will fill this spot with another type of player and are confident that we will be able to announce a signing soon", announced Sport Director Larry Mitchell.

The Augsburg Panther's loss in Ice hockey is a significant one with Jere Karjalainen deciding against returning after the summer. Originally from Bavaria, Karjalainen had a productive stint with Augsburg, translating into 13 goals and 20 assists in the previous season. In an attempt to fill the void left by the Fin, Augsburg wishes to bring in a different type of player, with an announcement of a new signing expected shortly.
