Student from Bremen dies on school trip in Tuscany

Despite having neck pain, a student from Bremen participates in the graduation trip of his class to Italy. Upon arrival in Tuscany, his health condition worsened rapidly. After a trip to Pisa, the 16-year-old teenager passed away. His family now accuses the teacher of negligence.

A 16-year-old student from Bremen suddenly died during a graduation trip in Tuscany. The cause of the youth's death and whether the educational staff fulfilled their responsibilities will now be investigated. "The incident is currently under investigation," confirmed a spokesperson for the Bremen Education Department. Further comments were made with reference to the ongoing investigation.

According to the "Weser-Kurier" report, the student attended the tenth grade of a support class at a Bremen upper school. Due to a perception disorder, he was accompanied by a teaching assistant in class with a disability grade of 80%. Despite neck pain, he insisted on participating in the graduation trip to Torre del Lago in the Lucca province. His condition worsened there.

According to the "Weser-Kurier" report, the boy's father was in constant contact with him during the 23-hour journey. The following day, the boy complained again of neck and head pain. His younger sister noticed during a video call that his face had turned red. The class then went on a day trip to Pisa, where the boy's condition continued to deteriorate. The responsible teacher therefore canceled the trip and informed the boy's parents.

Possible Negligence of the Educational Staff

According to the report, the sister spoke loudly with the 16-year-old again via video chat that evening. "His eyes were almost completely swollen," she told the Bremen newspaper. The following morning, the family was informed of the boy's death by phone.

The family now accuses the educational staff of not contacting a doctor in time and leaving the boy alone with his complaints in the accommodation on the campsite. The family is considering legal action.

The death of the student caused deep concern among the education senator and the department, stated the spokesperson for the Education Department. "The family was supported by the school during this difficult time. There was regular contact about what support the family could receive in this difficult time."

The student who passed away was attending an upper school in Bremen, specifically a support class due to his perception disorder. His death occurred during an international graduation trip to Italy, specifically in Torre del Lago, Lucca province. The incident has sparked accusations of negligence towards the boy's health from his family, who believe the educational staff should have sought medical attention earlier.
