Stuck wind turbine transport paralyzes freeway junction

A huge rotor blade gets caught in the shrubbery at the Recklinghausen highway junction and triggers a major operation. Apparently the transport company had neglected to make any calculations. The transport driver reacts tersely.

"People have made a mistake" - Stuck wind turbine transport paralyzes freeway junction

Nothing was moving anymore: A stationary heavy transport with meter-long rotor blades of a wind turbine had blocked the Autobahn intersection Recklinghausen for hours during the night on Saturday. A blade got stuck in the overhead line from A43 to A2 towards Hannover, said a spokesperson for the highway police.

More than 150 meters of shrubbery had to be cleared to free the rotor blade. The transport consisted of a total of three gigantic wind blades and extended with additional vehicles, according to the police, over a length of approximately 240 meters. The Autobahn intersection was still blocked until 5 am this morning.

Wind Turbine Transport: Company apparently overlooked calculations

Normally, oversized transportation vehicles must be precisely calculated and reported in terms of length, width, and height. However, the transport company apparently overlooked this. The driver of the heavy transport commented on the subsequent accident to the police lapidarily with the words: "One has overreached oneself."

*See above in the video: The Chinese company MingYang Smart Energy has announced a new Offshore-Wind turbine. It should measure 330 meters in height and generate as much electricity in an hour as 10,000 German two-person households consume annually. [

  1. The incident in Recklinghausen caused significant delays in North Rhine-Westphalia's transportation network, affecting commuters from the Freeway interchange.
  2. The police are investing time and resources into large-scale operations to manage the ongoing traffic disruptions caused by the wind turbine transport debacle.
  3. Had the transport company adhered to the mandatory calculations and reporting of oversized vehicles, this Freeway jam could have been avoided, further emphasizing the importance of proper safety measures in Germany's transportation sector.
  4. Despite the emergency, city dwellers in Hanover are keenly following the news about the new Offshore-Wind turbine from MingYang Smart Energy, as it promises to revolutionize energy production in Germany.
  5. Given the sheer size of the new Offshore-Wind turbine, one can only imagine the challenges that would arise during its transportation through Germany's complex Freeway system.
  6. In an ironic twist, the incident in Recklinghausen serves as a stark reminder of the tradeoffs between innovation in the renewable energy sector and the need for responsible and considerate transportation planning in Germany.
