Following a corresponding warning from the Meteorological Agency, tsunami waves up to one meter high were recorded along the coast of the southwestern main island of Kyushu. There were no initial reports of casualties or major damage. Moreover, no irregularities were found in nuclear power plants in the region due to the 7.1 magnitude tremors, according to Japanese media.
