Saalekreis - Stranded at Geiseltalsee - Woman dead
A woman got into trouble and later died at the Geiseltalsee in the Saalekreis. The emergency services were alerted by a passerby who had heard distress calls from the water, the district announced. It turned out that two women were in danger of drowning.
One of the women was able to be held above water for a short time by a paddler before the rescue services arrived, it was stated. Both women were rescued from the water and revival measures were initiated. However, one of the two women had already died on site.
The other woman was taken to a hospital by helicopter. The district made no further statements about her health condition. It is still unclear why the women were in distress on the See bei Mücheln (Geiseltalsee) in the Saalekreis.
