Signal interference - Still restrictions in rail traffic around Cottbus

In transportation around Cottbus Main Railway Station, restrictions still apply. The issues caused by a signal disruption on Monday are estimated by Deutsche Bahn (DB) to be resolved by Thursday.

"The repair works are underway. Crucial replacement parts for the damaged cable installations have already been delivered and are now being installed," said a Bahn spokesperson to the German Press Agency. "We continue to assume that we will be able to complete the work predictably on Thursday afternoon and resume railway operations on the disrupted tracks."

According to DB statements, important cable installations were damaged during construction work on Monday. These cables are essential for setting signals and switches. The railway traffic at Cottbus Main Station was briefly halted on Monday. Trains to and from Berlin resumed operation shortly thereafter.

Bahn apologizes

Trains of lines RE10 and RB43 between Cottbus and Guben, as well as between Cottbus and Frankfurt/Oder (RB43), Forst (RB46), and Zittau (RB65), are still not in service.

Trains of line RE2 to and from Berlin/Nauen and Falkenberg (Elster)/Leipzig (RB43) are reportedly operating mostly as usual. Passengers between Cottbus and Guben can also switch to bus line 877.

The Deutsche Bahn regrets the continued reduced offering and apologizes to passengers for the inconvenience, said the DB spokesperson. "Our repair teams are doing everything they can to ensure normal train operations as soon as possible."

  2. The repair works for the damaged cable installations in Brandenburg are being carried out by DB, with delivery and installation of critical components from Frankfurt (Oder) Central Station.
  3. Despite the ongoing repair works, rail traffic from Cottbus to German cities such as Berlin, Guben, and Frankfurt/Oder is still affected, leading to delays and restrictions.
  4. Signal interference and the subsequent restriction of railroad operations have also impacted certain train lines will not resume service until Thursday, as announced by DB.
  5. Passengers affected by the rail traffic disruption can utilize bus line 877 as an alternative to reach their destination between Cottbus and Guben.
  6. The issues with the railroad's signal system near Cottbus have affected multiple train routes, such as the RE10, RB43, and RB46, causing temporary changes in their schedules.
  7. The DB spokesperson stated that the company deeply regrets the impact on travelers and is working diligently to restore regular train operations in Cottbus, Guben, and surrounding regions as soon as possible.
