Star-studded lineup donates generously to Biden's campaign funds.

Stars in the US Américas tend to be liberal-leaning and predominantly support Democratic politics. As President Biden gears up for his re-election against former President Trump, the latter is busy collecting funds from supporters. Famed actors and musicians are pitching in, breaking fundraising records.

Democrat Joe Biden, backed by high-profile celebs like Julia Roberts, George Clooney, and Barbra Streisand, hosted a fundraiser in Los Angeles. The 81-year-old President appeared alongside former President Barack Obama, whom Jimmy Kimmel hosted on stage for nearly 30 minutes. Before the event even started, Biden's team announced that they had raked in a staggering $28 million (approximately €26 million) at the LA event, hailing it as the "largest fundraising event in the history of the Democratic Party."

During their conversation, Biden slammed the US Supreme Court, which he claimed had veered drastically right under Trump's Republican leadership. "There has never been a court that has strayed as far from the norm," Biden was reported to say. The prospect of Trump, if re-elected, appointing more judges is concerning. Obama weighed in, saying certain behaviors that were once considered disqualifying had become normalized in the US. Obama looked straight at Trump and added, "There are certain norms and values that one should acknowledge." Other celebs like Jason Bateman and Sheryl Lee Ralph joined Roberts, Clooney, and Streisand at the event.

Biden jetted off to LA from the G7 summit in Italy, crossing over nine time zones. In April, Biden had already raised over $26 million at a large fundraising event in New York, with support from Obama and Bill Clinton. Biden aims to reclaim the White House following the November elections.

His rival, of course, is his previous office occupant, former President Donald Trump. Both candidates are vying for large donations with glitzy fundraising events, constantly breaking fundraising records. As elections in the US can be pricey, it's essential to have the necessary small funds and depend on donors to succeed.
