Doug, spouse of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, publicly expressed his affection for her at the Democratic convention in Chicago. He gushed, "I adore you so much and I'm incredibly proud of your unwavering advocacy for us all." Whenever duty calls and in whatever form, Harris is always ready to deliver, he stated.

This sentiment remains true as the nation requires her leadership, Emhoff said. "She's prepared to guide, she infuses both cheerfulness and resilience into her role, and she'll be a superb president that we'll all take pride in," he acknowledged to the delegates. She's a "joyful warrior."

"She never shies away from a battle," Emhoff emphasized, further commenting, "she understands the best method to tackle a coward is to confront them directly." Cowards are weak, he pointed out. "And Kamala Harris has an uncanny knack for sniffing out weakness."

Emhoff reminisced on their first encounter. He left her a voicemail message, which she still keeps and plays for him every anniversary. This sweet tradition awaits them again this coming Thursday, their tenth anniversary.

Thursday evening (local time), Harris is slated to deliver a significant speech at the Chicago convention.

Harris, now 59, and Emhoff met later in life. A mutual friend introduced them on a blind date in California, where they both resided at the time. They became husband and wife the following year. Emhoff is proud father to two adult children, Cole and Ella, from his previous marriage. To them, she's "Momala" and he's simply "Doug." The relationship between Emhoff and his former spouse, along with Harris, is reported to be amicable.

Emhoff made history as the first man to assume the role of Second Gentleman in the U.S. He also holds the distinction of being the first Jewish vice-presidential companion in U.S. history. If Harris triumphs as the first female president, Emhoff would become the first First Gentleman of the United States.

Emhoff's support for Harris remains strong as the election approaches, stating, "I have no doubt that she will win the election and make history as our first female president." In the midst of the campaign, Emhoff emphasizes, "Regardless of the outcome of the election, Kamala Harris will continue to be a powerful force for change and a beacon of hope for many."
