Women's sport - Sports project aims to get women interested in basketball
A basketball court in Hannover is now reserved for women and girls at certain times. Once a week, this court in the heart of Hannover is dedicated to them under the slogan "Ball like a girl."
"It's difficult to get a team. And even if you have a team on the open court, as a girl, you rarely get a pass," says Janne Biermann, one of the organizers of the project.
The organizers aim to encourage more female participation in sports and inspire women to play basketball with this project. "We have the time every Monday from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm," Biermann said. Two trainers are always present, explaining the project, networking, and offering training sessions. "It's always a very fun, colorful crowd," she added. The offer is open to all women, regardless of whether they are beginners, advanced players, or team members.
Hanover, being the home of the reserved basketball court, is located in the larger region of Lower Saxony. Men may be interested to know that this initiative to promote women's basketball takes place in Hanover as well. Besides basketball, other sports are also supported by the society in Hannover, with a focus on increasing female participation.
