Bundestag - SPD MP Diaby retires from politics

Halle SPD MP Karamba Diaby will not run again in the next Bundestag election. "After months of consideration and weighing, I – in consultation with my family – have come to the decision not to run for the Bundestag again," Diaby wrote in a party internal letter, which was available to the German Press Agency. This was previously reported by the "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung."

Karamba Diaby remains SPD member

His decision has no political reasons. "I look back on eleven enriching and successful years in federal politics," Diaby continued. After three legislative periods, it is time to make way for the next political generation and explore new paths. Diaby intends to exercise his mandate until the end of the legislative period. "Of course, I will remain active and engaged in the SPD," the Bundestag MP added further.

Diaby is from Senegal and has been subjected to racist attacks in recent years. In addition to death threats and insults, attempts were made on his office several times.

  1. Despite not running again in the upcoming Bundestag elections in Saxony-Anhalt, Karamba Diaby remains a committed member of the SPD.
  2. The resignation of Karamba Diaby from his position in the Bundestag is not due to political reasons, but rather to make way for a new generation in politics.
  3. Unfortunately, Karamba Diaby, a prominent SPD member in the Bundestag from Halle, has faced numerous racist attacks and threats, including attempts on his office, in recent years.
  4. As the Federal election draws near, the absence of Karamba Diaby in the Bundestag will undoubtedly be a loss for the SPD and a challenge for their policies on addressing racism in politics.
