Weather Prediction: - South experiences thunderstorms and rain, while the north is hit by strong winds.
In southern Germany, get ready for powerful thunderstorms while those in the northwest and north should brace themselves for windy rain showers. Low pressure Swantje, which has been circling over the North Atlantic, North Sea, and Scandinavia, is responsible for this unstable weather, says meteorologist Tanja Egerer from the German Weather Service (DWD). This pressure system has extended its influence over Eastern Europe and even reaches southern Germany, causing a mix of heavy showers and thunderstorms.
"Due to the presence of a frontal system between the moist and warm air mass and the Alps, these areas are vulnerable to significant rain showers and occasional thunderstorms," Egerer explains. The rainfall amounts aren't as intense as the previous weekend, but the soil is still moist, prompting closer monitoring of the weather and alerts.
Cloudy Weather with Thunderstorms in the South
The DWD predicts clouds and, especially south of the Karlsruhe-Nuremberg line, rain on Sunday with strong showers and occasional thunderstorms. This could lead to intense downpours and an increased risk of thunderstorms.
On the other hand, the northwest and north will experience cool and windy shower weather in the coming days. Some thunderstorms may also occur directly at the coast. On Saturday, it's primarily the North Sea coast, while on Sunday, it's the Baltic Sea coast. Under the sun, expect a maximum temperature of 20 degrees, making beach-going less appealing than it would be with sunny, bathing suit-worthy weather.
Central Regions to Enjoy Sunny to Cloudy Conditions
According to Egerer, the high Xenophilius will bring sunny to cloudy, dry conditions in Germany's central regions. The maximum temperatures here are predicted to be 19-22 degrees on Sunday.
From Sunday night through Monday morning, there's potential for heavy rain, particularly to the south of the Danube, and some isolated thunderstorms. On Monday, the skies will be overcast and relatively stable, with the best chance of clearing occurring in the south and east. In the northwest, showers and brief hailstorms are possible. In the south, it will start with heavy rain that evolves into showers in the Alps foothills.
Coastal Areas Continue to See Windy, Changing Weather
Throughout the nation, temperatures will hover between 15 and 21 degrees.
