Sonos introduces remarkable headphones for regular use.
Sonos, a company renowned for its streaming devices, has recently introduced its first headphones. These headphones aren't just any ordinary pair; they're designed to provide excellent sound quality, advanced noise cancellation, and an immersive 3D audio experience when used alongside a Sonos soundbar.
The Ace, priced at €499, targets the high-end headphone market. Owners of Sonos soundbars can enjoy cinematic sound straight from their home speaker system. Unlike Bluetooth, multi-channel formats like Dolby Atmos can be processed on the soundbar, with additional audio track information transferred to the headphones. An added feature called TrueCinema will allow for an even more immersive and realistic experience by adjusting the sound to match the room, making you feel like you're not wearing headphones.
3D audio can also be experienced through binaural mixes sent by the audio source. The Sonos headphones feature bespoke 40mm drivers in their earcups. Eight microphones are integrated for active noise cancellation and a transparency mode that allows outside noise to seep through. Sonos has placed great emphasis on the headphones' appearance, comfort, and wearability. Weighing only 312 grams, these headphones are significantly lighter than Apple's AirPods Max (385g). They're set to last for up to 30 hours of playback or calls, with just three minutes on the charger offering three hours of battery life. The Ace will be available in stores from June 5.
Before the announcement, Sonos launched a revamped app with a sleeker design. However, some customers complained online about missing features like alarms and music playback from local sources. Sonos has promised to reintroduce these features in the updated app "in the near future".
