One day after a house fire in Solingen left eleven people injured, authorities are now exploring the possibility of attempted murder. The ongoing investigation hints at a premeditated arson case using an accelerant, according to an announcement made by the Wuppertal Public Prosecutor's Office on Monday.

Detectives are examining every angle, with no particular suspect yet. Out of the eleven people injured, ten were affected by suspected light gas poisoning. A woman among them also sustained a foot injury while attempting to escape the burning building. The fire erupted early on Sunday morning. Investigators are currently working to determine where the fire started and which type of accelerant was used—these details remain hidden for tactical reasons.

The local authorities are currently on the hunt for any witnesses or individuals who may have seen anything suspicious around the time of the incident. The initial emergency call was made at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday night.

When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they observed smoke billowing out of the front and back windows of the three-story house. They managed to rescue ten residents, including two entire families, using a ladder.

Interestingly, this isn't the first fire-related tragedy in Solingen. An earlier one on March 25th resulted in the loss of four lives. The culprit was eventually arrested and held in pre-trial detention. The 39-year-old man is believed to have been attempting to kill a 44-year-old man for a second time: he allegedly attacked the victim with a machete, leaving him severely injured.
