Munich - Smoking in bed - man critically injured in fire

A man is suspected to have smoked in bed and caused a fire in Munich, resulting in a life-threatening injury to the 51-year-old man, according to the Munich Police Department.

A neighbor was awakened by the smell of smoke and placed a call. The fire department rescued the 51-year-old from his apartment. Emergency services transported him to the hospital with severe burn injuries. No other people were injured. Preliminary findings suggest that the fire was caused by negligent arson.
