Sixth fatality found in the canton of Ticino
After the heavy downpours in Switzerland, a sixth victim has been found. The police in the canton of Tessin announced on Wednesday that a body was recovered from the Maggia river by helicopter. In the same area, a death had occurred the previous day.
In Tessin, torrential rainfall reminiscent of a flood occurred on Saturday evening, causing landslides and floods. Three German pensioners between the ages of 73 and 76 died in a landslide. Another German man died in the neighboring canton of Valais, surprised by the water masses in the basement of a hotel.
Following the tragic events in Valais, yet another fatality was reported in Ticino, bringing the total number of deaths in Switzerland due to the recent storms to six.
