A traffic accident with six fatalities, among them two children, caused shock in England. The accident, in which a car collided with a motorcycle, occurred near the city of Wakefield, in the county of West Yorkshire in the north of England, on a Sunday.

Both the four occupants of a Ford Focus and a man and a woman, who were on a motorcycle with a passenger, died at the scene. According to a statement from West Yorkshire Police, the car contained a woman and a man with two girls.

The cause of the fatal collision was initially unknown. The road remained closed the day after the accident, as reported by British media.

The accident caused great sympathy. "Terrible news. My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of those who lost their lives in such a tragic way," wrote the local MP, Dan Jarvis.
