Upon lethal gunfire at Frankfurt's central railway station, early suggestions of a motive have emerged: It could potentially stem from a family dispute, as suggested by Frankfurt's public prosecutor's office.
Previously, Turkish media had hinted at a family feud as the backstory without providing concrete evidence. On Tuesday evening at a station platform, a 54-year-old Turkish man is believed to have fired at a 27-year-old Turkish male. The Turkish newspaper "Hürriyet" reported an ongoing feud between two Kurdish families without citing sources.
Following the incident, the suspected assailant was swiftly apprehended by the Federal Police. The authorities issued an arrest warrant based on suspicion of homicide. Regrettably, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Allegedly, the suspect shot the 27-year-old twice in the head while he was lying prone on the ground.
Subsequently, the public prosecutor's office spokesperson corrected some misleading details that had been distributed through the media. At the moment, no definitive findings have been established relating to any Turkish connections to the incident.
Authenticity of CCTV footage confirmed
In light of circulating internet footage from a surveillance camera, investigators confirmed that the content was consistent with their own footage. The captured video reveals a man approaching another male from behind, pointedly aiming a gun at the victim's head, and subsequently witnessing the victim's collapse.
