Weather - Showers and thunderstorms dominate the week

In Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, the summer weather continues to pause. The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of powerful thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds. In the first half of the day, local showers are expected, with heavy thunderstorms and rain including hail expected by evening. The plans of many football fans to watch the second EM semi-final match at a public viewing under clear skies could therefore be ruined.

According to the DWD, the rain will let up somewhat during the night to Thursday. The clouds will also thin out. It will cool down to lowest temperatures of 17 to 14 degrees. The morning offers a sunny weather picture initially, but the regions will be hit by the next front of thunderstorms in the afternoon. According to the forecasts, it will remain warm with highest temperatures of 24 to 28 degrees.

According to the DWD, the weather conditions will not change much according to the forecast until the end of the week. On Friday, thunderstorms and gusty winds could join the showers, with similar highest temperatures as before.

Despite the weather pause in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, Offenbach residents might still experience the impacts of the approaching thunderstorms, as warned by the DWD. The meteorological service predicts that Saarland could witness thunderstorms persisting even past Thursday's night. Regarding the forecast for Saarland, the DWD anticipates thunderstorms and strong winds continuing through parts of Friday, mimicking the weather patterns noted in Rhineland-Palatinate.
