Several children harmed by lightning strike in the Czech Republic.
A delightful day was planned: In the castle park of Liberec, Czech Republic, folks assembled for a kid's festival. Unfortunately, heavy rain drove them to find cover under a tree, where a bolt of lightning hit.
Lightning damaged 18 people in the Czech Republic's Liberec, with 9 being children. Hospital representatives confirmed this following the incident. All of the injured were found unconscious on the park ground, varying in age from 2 to 16 years old.
Fortunately, no burns were seen among the victims, and no surgeries were needed at this time. This unexpected incident happened during a kid's festival in the Vratislavice nad Nisou district's castle park. Paramedics were able to resuscitate five individuals. The wounded were transferred to local hospitals for treatment. A helicopter transported one child to Prague's Motol University Hospital. Liberec, a town about 25 km southeast of Zittau's Saxon border, was impacted by this tragedy.
A police spokesperson from the CTK agency reported: "A lightning bolt struck a tree in the rain and storm." Many individuals had sheltered under this tree, though, exposing themselves to potential danger. In early June, children's day is usually celebrated in the Czech Republic. The country dealt with other storm-related issues as well. Flooding was seen on multiple western rivers.
The Pilsen city administration, known for its industry and beer culture, advised people to avoid the riverbanks. "The water possesses tremendous strength," cautioned Mayor Roman Zarzycky on social media. Between Pilsen and Strakonice, in the country's southwest, the railway had to be temporarily suspended due to landslides. The CHMU meteorological service was expecting more storms in the afternoon.
