In the East Westphalian town of Herford, there's been a suspicion of a group sex assault on a woman. The local authorities are currently investigating the case involving six men and one woman, as announced by the legal office. The alleged incident took place on August 24 in a vehicle parked on a lot adjacent to a significant disco, according to a representative from the Bielefeld-based legal office. The supposed victim hails from the Münsterland region, with her specific age remaining undisclosed, although previous reports suggested she was 18.
The investigation focuses on seven individuals, the representative confirmed in response to an inquiry from dpa. This group includes five young adults, an adult, and a juvenile. Two of the suspects, both Iraqis, have already been detained. There are four Germans among the suspects, in addition to an individual of German-Syrian nationality.
"Multiple search warrants have now been carried out, during which pertinent items and traces have been obtained and are currently being evaluated," the legal office stated. According to media reports, numerous apartments were searched and evidence secured towards the beginning of September. The vicious act is believed to have transpired in the early hours following a disco visit.
