accident - Senior strength with car in gas station building

An 84-year-old driver crashed his car into a gas station building in Bobingen-Dagersheim, Germany. According to the police, the man is said to have seen a vehicle with right-of-way before he intended to turn his car from the gas station lot onto the main street.

After an evasive maneuver, the senior driver accelerated his car for unknown reasons and drove over a roughly one-meter high retaining wall. Once the car fell from there back onto the gas station lot, it collided with a fuel pump and broke a window of the building, coming to a stop in the sales area.

The driver and his 82-year-old passenger remained unharmed in the accident. The police reported a damage of approximately 100,000 Euros to the gas station. The car suffered total damage and was towed away.

According to the police, only a small amount of fuel leaked from the fuel pump until it was shut off. The accident occurred when the gas station was already closed. The Technical Assistance Service took care of securing the building.

The police in Baden-Württemberg are investigating the traffic accident at the gas station in Bobingen-Dagersheim. The driver, attempting an evasive maneuver, lost control near the vehicle with right-of-way. Despite driving over a retaining wall, neither the driver nor his passenger sustained injuries. Interestingly, the accident took place at an automatic gas station in Böblingen.
