2nd league - Selke announces his departure from 1 FC Köln

Stürmer Davie Selke will leave 1. FC Köln, the Bundesliga relegator. The chance to stay with the second-league football club was "taken away" from the 29-year-old, as he wrote on Instagram without providing specific details about the failed negotiations. He could imagine staying with the club, Selke wrote, adding, "I have felt good in Cologne and at FC." The striker, who missed the promoted class maintenance with the Rhinelanders in the past season, saw his contract expire at the end of June. He has been without a club since July 1. Selke joined Köln from Hertha BSC in January 2023 and scored eleven goals in thirty-six Bundesliga matches for the club.

Although Davie Selke expressed his interest in staying with 1st FC Cologne, the opportunity was unfortunately withdrawn. This decision led Selke to share his thoughts on Instagram, expressing his positive experiences in Cologne and with the club. Despite being without a team since July 1, Selke made significant contributions to 1. FC Köln in Bundesliga 2, scoring eleven goals in thirty-six matches upon joining from Hertha BSC in January 2023. Regrettably, his contract with the North Rhine-Westphalia club expired at the end of June, putting an end to his tenure with the 1st FC Cologne, which is currently competing in the Bundesliga 2 in Germany.
