Ukraine's President - Selenskyj will address the Bundestag on Tuesday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to address the German Parliament, known as the Bundestag, on Tuesday during his visit to Berlin. This information was obtained by the German Press Agency on Friday from parliamentary sources.
Zelensky will attend the two-day Ukraine reconstruction conference in Berlin on Tuesday and Wednesday. He's set to open the event alongside Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), as the German government had previously announced in early May. The "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" was the first to report the planned Bundestag speech.
On March 17, 2022, three weeks into the Russian attack on Ukraine, Zelensky addressed parliamentarians via video link. He passionately urged the parliament and federal government to support his country and end the war. He concluded his speech with the heartfelt plea, "Assist us. Promote peace. Support every Ukrainian. Halt the war. Assist us in ceasing it!"
Next week, the Bundestag is set to hold its regular session, but will have to adjust its plans for the special speech. Unlike typical Tuesday afternoons, when the entire parliament meets, only the parliamentary groups will convene on Tuesday.
