Seat Mii - short and sweet
Small cars like the Seat Mii are particularly practical in the city. It performs well as a used car at the TÜV - in all age categories. However, the inspectors also found a few defects, for example in the brakes, lighting and exhaust system.
The Seat Mii subcompact was available in Germany between 2012 and the beginning of 2021. The triplet brother of the Skoda Citigo and VW up was initially available with conventional engines, but since the beginning of 2020 only as a battery-electric variant.
Quality
The Seat Mii performs well in the TÜV main inspections (HU) across all age groups. With the exception of the 4- to 5-year-old age group, the defect rates are below the average of all vehicles tested. And even the 4- to 5-year-olds only just beat the average. The good result is probably also due to the fact that Mii drivers cover a below-average number of kilometers.
However, used car buyers should be aware of a few weak points: TÜV inspectors often find fault with the functioning of the foot brake and the lighting system. In older models, the exhaust system has a negative impact, while younger models tend to leak oil.
Body and interior
The Mii stretches to 3.56 meters and offers space for up to four people. The seats are well upholstered. The amount of space is fine for the length of the vehicle, as is the trunk volume (252 to 951 liters). The compact car was also available as a three-door model until 2018, after which it was only available as a five-door model.
The door panels, plastics and carpeting do not necessarily convey a haptically sophisticated impression. But the workmanship is right. In 2016, the Spaniard received a facelift, which mainly affected the interior. Among other things, modern infotainment systems were now available and the interior was spruced up.
Engines and drive
The engine range was clear. The 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine was offered in two versions: with 40 kW/60 PS and 55 kW/75 PS. The 75 hp engine was capable of 172 km/h, the smaller one 160 km/h. Power was transmitted via a manual five-speed gearbox, with an automated manual gearbox available as an alternative for both engines. The average fuel consumption is between 4 and 5 liters.
A natural gas specification with 50 kW/68 hp was also on offer. The battery-electric variant came in at 61 kW/83 hp. The 32 kWh battery enables ranges of around 250 kilometers.
Equipment
Air conditioning, radio preparation, power steering, electric windows or a height-adjustable driver's seat were not available in the nameless basic version. If you want a little more comfort, you have to go for the higher levels (such as Reference, Style, FR-Line) or special models such as Mango or I-Tech. Electric windows or electric assistants for the exterior mirrors as well as central locking with remote control only appear with Style. However, even with Style, air conditioning was not included as standard and had to be booked as an option.
Conclusion and market
The combination of brevity and small turning circle make the Seat Mii a practical car - especially for urban environments. According to an analysis by mobile.de, around 1000 used Mii cars are currently offered for sale on this platform. Prices start at around 3000 euros for older vehicles with high mileage. Used electric cars are available from around 13,000 euros.
