Geriatric women, aged 60 to over 80, set the tone for this year's Vienna Fashion Week with their bold and self-assured style creations. Titled "Fashion - Rewind and Recharge" (Fashion - revamped), a team of ten novice designers showcased their designs in Vienna. The collection stood out due to the women utilizing fabrics from their wardrobes or the stock of other elderly individuals.

The catwalk showcased attire varying from everyday wearable to extravagant. For instance, a black and white striped sweater adorned with a green heart muscle on the chest symbolized the eco-friendly nature of the fashion project, which sprouted from Vienna's senior clubs. The city of Vienna boasts 150 social gathering spots and activities.

There was no semblance of outdated "grandma fashion" on the catwalk. Off-the-shoulder dresses and semi-sheer fabrics were displayed alongside a denim dress embellished with a corsage or a black leather skirt paired with a smoking jacket.

The evening gowns ranged from classy yet comfortable designs to the evening's highlight: a fiery orange-red dress with a violet veil - seemingly crafted for the wedding of a woman with a wealth of life experiences and disregard for conventions.

The current fashion offerings for older customers in stores are monotonous, pronounced one of the designers, Brigitte Hrdlicka, to the German Press Agency. "It could do with a bit more pizzazz. I encourage all ladies to embrace their self-confidence a bit more," said the 63-year-old.
