Burnt corpse - Search for missing senior citizen after fire unsuccessful so far
The search for a missing senior woman continues today on a woodland property in Mittelfranken. Special response units of the police found a man's body and a firearm in a burnt-out garden house there on Sunday.
The autopsy is planned for the morning, a police spokesperson said. It is intended to clarify, among other things, whether the man is the 88-year-old husband of the missing person. The police had already searched the approximately 6,000 square meter large property on Monday with cadaver dogs but found no trace of the missing person.
Fire department hindered in their work
The fire department was called to the fire in the southern part of Altdorf near Nuremberg on Sunday afternoon. When the firefighters wanted to enter the burning garden house, a man threatened them with a firearm. The firefighters therefore withdrew and informed the police.
Police secured the surroundings and temporarily closed the nearby autobahn. Special response units searched the area. They eventually found the body in the remains of the burnt-out garden house.
The fire department's efforts to extinguish the fire were hindered due to a threat from an individual with a firearm. Central France expressed its concern upon hearing about the incident in Middle Franconia, Bavaria. The missing senior woman's husband, whose body was found in the burnt-out garden house, will be subject to an autopsy to confirm his identity. Regardless of the autopsy results, the police continue to search for the woman in and around Altdorf, where the incident occurred.
