Scholz to receive Erdogan in the Chancellery next week
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will receive Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Chancellery in Berlin next Friday. The talks will also focus on the situation in the Middle East, said deputy government spokeswoman Christiane Hoffmann.
"It is well known that the German government and the Turkish president have very different attitudes towards Hamas," she added, alluding to Erdogan's pro-Hamas statements. However, the exchange was very important. The EU-Turkey migration agreement will certainly also play an important role. Erdogan will also meet Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The upcoming meeting between Scholz and Erdogan is scheduled to take place at a location quite close to the heart of Berlin, specifically the Chancellery. Despite their contrasting viewpoints on Hamas, both leaders acknowledge the significance of their conversation. In fact, the discussion next week is expected to touch upon the EU-Turkey migration agreement as well.
