The Federal Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, announced a resolute strategy to combat attacks on public officials and security personnel, following the fatal stabbing of a police officer in Mannheim. Scholz expressed, "The fallen police officer in Mannheim defended our right to express our views freely."
Scholz assured, "If extremists try to forcefully limit these rights, they'll have to deal with us, their toughest adversaries. We'll use all the legal tools at our disposal."
Vice Government Spokesman, Wolfgang Büchner, addressed the media, stating Scholz's viewpoint, "An assault on a police officer on duty is an attack on each and every one of us." The Chancellor made it abundantly clear that a democratic state cannot tolerate attacks on public officials and security forces.
Scholz further acknowledged, "The late police officer's commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens merits our utmost respect." Extending his condolences, Scholz expressed his sorrow to the family of the deceased officer, his friends, and his fellow officers at the Mannheim police.
