Scholz rules out sending German military trainers to Ukraine.

French President Macron plans to dispatch military trainers along with other countries to Ukraine to enhance efficiency. However, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz firmly opposes this move and reaffirmed his stance on assisting Ukraine.

At an SPD political campaign event in Duisburg, Scholz made it abundantly clear that Germany will not be sending its soldiers to the conflict zone. He reiterated his resolve to avert escalation in the present situation. Alongside this, US President Joe Biden and Scholz agreed that no soldiers from their nations nor NATO would be deployed in Ukraine.

During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris on Friday, Macron revealed their intention to form a coalition of countries to offer military training. Several partners have already assented to this effort, and they plan to establish a coalition to respond to Ukraine's request. Macron asserted that this request was valid and aligns with their aim for a more efficient and practicable training process.

The US government has no intention of participating in this French initiative. National Security Council Communications Director John Kirby confirmed on Friday that Biden respects Macron's position. Still, Biden has been steadfast in his decision to not send any American soldiers to Ukraine since the onset of the war. Kirby reassured, "This has been the case so far, and that's how it will remain in the future."

Scholz emphasized that the guidelines for German support could be encapsulated in a single phrase: 'Caution, Caution, Caution.' It is crucial to help Ukraine, but they must also focus on avoiding further aggravation of the war between Russia and NATO.
