Saxony's Minister President Kretschmer involved in car accident

The Prime Minister of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, had a car accident on Tuesday evening. According to several media reports, one of his escort cars had to swerve out of the way of a deer.

Michael Kretschmer (CDU) attempts to be very close to the voter as Minister-President of Saxony. For example, he invites people to events like "MK-Direct", a citizen dialogue. This was also the case on Tuesday in the community of Triebel in Vogtland. However, the return journey from the event did not go as planned: Kretschmer was reportedly involved in an accident in his official car. This is reported by T-Online.

After the end of the event, Kretschmer's official car and the accompanying vehicles were heading towards Dresden, as reported by several local media. On a road between Triebel and Dresden, there was then an accident involving the car of the Minister-President.

Michael Kretschmer: The car had to swerve to avoid a deer

Around 10:30 pm, a deer suddenly ran or jumped in front of Kretschmer's BMW. The vehicle in which the Minister-President was sitting had to swerve to avoid the deer on the road and apply the brakes heavily. A following vehicle, which was directly behind the Minister-President's car in the convoy, collided with it.

The accident caused significant damage to both cars. However, fortunately, there were no injuries. Police and an ambulance were quickly on the scene. The Minister-President was examined at the scene in the ambulance and was then able to leave the accident site. "We are relieved that the accident ended without serious injury. Everyone is fine," shared Ralph Schreiber, a government spokesperson, later.
