Crime - Saxon police search for criminals on manhunt day

The Saxon police are continuing to put pressure on criminals. For the third time this year, there was a search and control day. The Interior Ministry intends to provide information on the results later. Large control stations had been set up for this purpose. "This is just the tip of the iceberg, there were also numerous smaller control stations and mobile teams," said Mario Laske, spokesperson for the Dresden Police Department. He assumed that all districts in Saxony were involved. The controls would not only focus on the search for persons, but also on areas such as drug-related crime and car theft. The action day is also intended to better network previous search instruments. It was also noted that transnational crime and smuggling crime were being taken into account.

At the third control, Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) obtained an overview of the work of the officers at a checkpoint on the Federal Highway 170 in Possendorf. During the first state-wide search and control day in March, the police arrested 58 wanted persons, 43 of whom had arrest warrants. 14 of them were taken into custody, while the others were released through the payment of a fine. At the time, the police had checked around 2,250 vehicles and 2,800 persons. At the end of May, there was a second such action. According to Schuster, a new search concept is being implemented with this. The minister had already announced a fourth search and competence center in Dippoldiswalde earlier. The others are located in Görlitz, Stollberg and Plauen. In the centers, the State Police work together with the Federal Police.

  1. Armin Schuster, the Interior Minister of Saxony, participated in the third large-scale control day, conducting inspections at a checkpoint on Federal Highway 170 in Possendorf.
  2. Hailing from Dresden, Mario Laske, the police department's spokesperson, commented on the extensive search and control operations taking place across Saxony, involving both stationary control stations and mobile teams.
  3. During the third search and control day in Saxony, the Ministry of the Interior aimed to combat various types of crime, including drug-related offenses and car theft, and to further strengthen the collaboration between the state and federal police forces.
