Samsung wants to become Lord of the Rings
The Galaxy Ring is Samsung's new star device unveiled in Paris, as it brings something new to the company's portfolio. The latest foldable and clap phones, headphones, and smartwatches from Samsung are also intriguing. Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a significant role as well.
Beat instead of click: Samsung introduced a whole lineup of new devices in Paris, most of which are improvements, such as the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. For the first time, the South Koreans are also presenting a smart ring that measures fitness and health data. Two new smartwatches from the company, Samsung's latest earbud generation, surprise with a new design. However, the Galaxy Ring is said to deliver particularly precise data, which should be processed more securely in Samsung Health than with other providers. The company aims to make its ecosystem more attractive with the new wearable to keep customers long-term.
New Ring, ultra-robust Galaxy Watch Ultra
The Galaxy Ring measures pulse and automatically recognizes various workouts. It can also track sleep and alert wearers to irregularities or inactivity.
This is also the case with other rings, but according to the manufacturer, the Galaxy Ring should deliver more accurate data. With the new wearable, Samsung also wants to make its ecosystem more appealing and bind customers long-term.
The same applies to the new Galaxy Watch 7, which also functions as a health and fitness tracker. It has received a stronger processor than its predecessor. Extreme athletes and adventurers should enjoy the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which has a titanium case and is waterproof up to 10 atmospheres. It functions in altitude ranges between 500 meters below and 9000 meters above sea level.
Stem-shaped earbuds, lighter foldables
Samsung's new earbuds have a new stem design, reminiscent of Apple's Airpods. The Galaxy Buds 3 are said to be more comfortable while still being secure. Like their major competitors, they can now be controlled by pressing and swiping the stems.
Improved sound quality and active noise cancellation (ANC) are promised. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro take it a step further with an additional high-toner, adaptive ANC tuning, siren and voice recognition. When combined with a Galaxy smartphone, real-time translations can be heard.
The most notable devices at Samsung's summer Unpacked event were the new foldable and clap phones. With a new flat frame, they are even lighter than previous generations. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 weighs only 187 grams, and the Galaxy Z Fold only 239 grams. They are also said to be more robust and feature a stronger processor and improved cameras.
AI functions from Samsung or Google
The chip is also optimized for AI applications, as Samsung emphasized in its previous Galaxy-S24 series presentation. Most functions are not really new, but the foldables have some special talents. For example, they can display real-time translations to conversation partners on their two screens.
This feature works like all AI functions of Samsung "on board" in the chip, therefore it doesn't need an Internet connection. Samsung also cooperates with Google's Cloud AI Gemini, which has its own app on the devices. With it, users can transform Selfies or Portraits into various styles such as Cartoon or Watercolor. Additionally, there are numerous other Photo and Video functions, including an Auto-Zoom, where people or landmarks are automatically fitted into the frame using AI assistance.
Extras for Pre-orders
All new Samsung devices are now available for pre-order, with Samsung offering attractive bundles or trade-ins for old devices. They will be available in stores starting July 24.
