S-Bahn derailed in Munich - important railroad line closed
An S-Bahn train derailed at a station in Munich on Thursday night. No one was injured, but there was considerable damage and restrictions to S-Bahn services, according to a spokesperson for the Federal Police.
For reasons that are as yet unclear, the bogie of the S-Bahn derailed at a switch in a tunnel on the main line. The track bed, the substructure and the S-Bahn were damaged. The passengers were reportedly taken to the platform by the fire department. There were 15 passengers on the train at the time of the accident.
The busy railroad line, which is important for the state capital, was closed - it is still unclear for how long. A railroad spokesperson said that the train's bogie would first have to be put back on the rails. The federal police have started an investigation into dangerous interference with rail traffic.
The railroad traffic was significantly disrupted due to the derailment, causing delays and rerouting for commuters. In the event of future emergencies or accidents, it's crucial to adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize potential harm.
