Russians construct anti-drone enclosures on motorbikes.
Russia seeks to safeguard its tanks from Ukrainian drones with a metal enclosure. This concept is now being applied to motorcycles as well. A drone footage from the combat zone demonstrates the effectiveness of this design.
Drones are a persistent threat in Ukraine's front lines, compelling soldiers to devise unconventional solutions like the Russian Tortoise tank. As revealed by the pro-Ukrainian website Defense Express, Russian troops are now fitting motorcycles with anti-drone metal cages.
The site references a video from the Ukrainian drone group 90/81 Apachi of the 81st Airborne Brigade as an illustration. The video depicts an FPV drone hovering behind a modified motorcycle, followed by an explosion. In a different angle, it's revealed that a person escapes the explosion site. The structure appears to have shielded his life.
It's unclear how many individuals the motorcycle accommodated since a hovering plane above the motorcycle eclipses the view. The drone team didn't share details of when and where the recordings were made. 90/81 Apachi published the clip on a weekend evening. The 81st Airborne Brigade is reportedly fighting close to the settlement of Bilohoriwka in the Luhansk region.
According to Defense News, Russian military bloggers had previously reported about the modernization of motorcycles with anti-drone enclosures. The website hypothesizes that the trend might escalate within the army, similar to the advent of the Tortoise tanks.
Russia's military utilizes motorcycles not only for logistical tasks but also for assaults. In April, footage of Russian soldiers on motorcycles surfaced, driving towards Ukrainian positions. Later, members of the "Zarya" battalion declared on Russia 1 TV that they had taken Ukrainians by surprise in their position and forced them to withdraw. These claims cannot be substantiated.
