Russian troops report successes in advance in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk
Russian troops have announced new successes in their advance in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, specifically the capture of the villages of Progress and Evhenivka. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry in Kyiv has yet to confirm the takeover of Evhenivka. The pro-Ukrainian military channel Deep State had reported on Telegram three months ago that the contested village of Progress in the Pokrovsk district had been under Russian control.
Russian claims were not independently verifiable. However, Russian troops, according to western military experts, have controlled numerous cities and villages in the Donbass region of Ukraine since the beginning of the year.
The Russian Defense Ministry has reported dozens of conquests in the annexed territories of Luhansk and Donetsk and in the predominantly Ukrainian-controlled region of Kharkiv since the beginning of the year. Russia's goal is to fully occupy the annexed but not yet fully controlled Ukrainian territories of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, and Donetsk.
An official confirmation of territorial losses from Kyiv is usually not given. Both sides reported the launching of numerous drones of the opponent and individual successes on the battlefield on Sunday. Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian offensive war for over two years with Western military aid. Approximately one fifth of the country is under Russian military occupation.**
- Despite the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's lack of confirmation, the Russian Defense Ministry has boasted about further advancements in the Donetsk region, claiming control over Progress and Evhenivka.
- The Russian troops' control of Progress, initially reported by Deep State three months prior, is one of their many successes in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, according to Western military analysts.
- With numerous victories in cities and villages in the Donbass region, Russian troops have been making significant strides in their goal to fully occupy the annexed but not yet fully controlled Ukrainian territories, including Donetsk.
