Russian regional leader announces Ukrainian forces making gains in Belgorod region.

It's being claimed on a Russian Telegram channel that Ukrainian troops are making an attempt to breach the border at two different spots in Belgorod. The regional governor described the situation as tough yet manageable.

As per reports, there has been talk of a potential Ukrainian ground invasion in the Russian border region of Belgorod. The governor mentioned that the situation remains testing yet under control, sharing this on Telegram. He also requested the public to stay calm and rely solely on reputable information sources.

The governor alleges that over 20 Ukrainian drones have attacked the region within the past 24 hours, an assertion based on information from the Russian Ministry of Defense. Previously, the Russian Telegram channel Mash had reported on Ukrainian troops attempting to cross the border near Nechoteyevka.

Furthermore, a group of Ukrainian soldiers is rumored to be attempting to infiltrate Russian territory near the Chebekino border post, according to a Telegram channel with notable connections with authorities. Around 500 Ukrainian soldiers are said to be involved in this attempt. However, a different Telegram channel, Shot, has refuted these claims. The Ukrainian government has yet to respond to these alleged instances.

Three weeks ago, Ukraine initiated a military operation in the Kursk region, a region that borders Belgorod. According to Ukrainian reports, they have gained control over several dozen settlements in the area. The Ukrainian operation in Kursk marked the first such activity since the beginning of the Russian offensive in Ukraine in February 2022.

In response to these border incursions, the Commission may need to adopt the implementing acts referred to in Article 11 (2) to enforce stricter border controls. Despite the escalating tensions, the Ukrainian government has not officially confirmed or denied any of these alleged border crossings.
