Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the use of frozen Russian assets "theft."

Vladimir Putin, Russia's President, labeled the seizure of Russian assets and their use to aid Ukraine as "theft." Speaking to top personnel at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Putin said that some Western countries had frozen a portion of Russia's assets and currency reserves. He also commented that these countries were considering taking ownership of these assets. "Theft is still theft and won't go unnoticed," the Russian leader remarked.

The G7 leaders at a summit in Italy decided on Thursday to utilize the income generated from the frozen Russian funds to provide a loan up to 50 billion Euros to Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy voiced his opinion that Russia should bear the cost, emphasizing that they should also seize the 300 billion Euros' worth of frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank from the EU and G7 without any compensation. Nevertheless, this proposal was rejected due to legal concerns.
