Russian Military Conducts Naval Drills in the Pacific Ocean
The Russian Military embarked on naval exercises in the Pacific Ocean, preceding Vladimir Putin's visit to North Korea. Approximately 40 vessels and watercraft, along with around 20 aircraft and helicopters, are participating in these drills, as per the Defense Ministry in Moscow. These exercises are set to continue until June 28, encompassing the Pacific Ocean, the Japanese Sea, and the Sea of Okhotsk.
A Defense Ministry-released video showcases numerous ships, and a submersible, forming a battle formation off the coast of Vladivostok, the base of the Russian Pacific Fleet. The ministry clarified that the training encompasses counter-submarine operations and air defense exercises.
Putin is scheduled to jet off to North Korea on Tuesday for a two-day state visit. North Korea stands accused of helping Russia in its offensive in Ukraine with weapon shipments - a breach of UN sanctions. Following his North Korea visit, Putin is slated to head to Vietnam.
