Russian forces are marching at a rapid pace through the Pokrovsk front sector in eastern Ukraine, as per military analysts. Over the past few days, they're said to have seized a notable portion of the town of Novohrodivka, situated south of Pokrovsk, based on a report by the U.S. Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

According to ISW, the Russian military is now concentrating on pushing forward alongside a train line heading towards Pokrovsk. Experts surmise that the rapid Russian advance in Novohrodivka within the Donetsk region might be attributed to Ukraine vacating the area.

Zelensky greenlights additional troops

As a reaction to the Russian incursion in Pokrovsk, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared he would dispatch reinforcements to the region during a meeting with military commanders. Russian forces have reportedly seized entire towns in the Donetsk region lately.

Ukrainian administration has also commanded extra relocations. Owing to worsening security circumstances, the extended evacuation area has been declared. Children along with their parents or caretakers need to abandon their homes, the governor of Donetsk declared. A list comprising 27 towns in the Kostyantynivka and Selydove regions has been revealed. Previously, evacuations had been mandated in the Pokrovsk region in response to the Russian troops' advance.

The European Union has expressed concern over the Russian forces' advancement in eastern Ukraine, particularly in the Pokrovsk front sector and surrounding areas. The European Union has urged for an immediate de-escalation and adherence to international law in Ukraine.
