Russia searches for Eurovision winner Jamala
Russia has issued an alert for Jamala, the Ukrainian winner of the Eurovision Song Contest ESC 2016. This was reported by Russian state news agencies.
The Russian Interior Ministry in Moscow did not specify the criminal charges against the singer of Crimean Tatar origin. Jamala (40), whose real name is Sussana Dschamaladinowa, has, however, repeatedly publicly denounced the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. She also stands up for the Crimean Tatars, who are being oppressed on the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia according to human rights reports.
Jamala's ESC winning song in Stockholm 2016, entitled "1944", recalled the expulsion of the Crimean Tatars from their homeland ordered by Moscow at the time.
- The Conflicts between Russia and Ukraine have led to tensions, resulting in criminal charges against Eurovision winner Jamala.
- The Russian manhunt for Jamala, a prominent critic of the war, has sparked concerns among People who support her causes.
- During the Eurovision Song Contest 2016, Jamala, also known as Sussana Jamaladinova, won with her powerful song "1944," which echoed the historical Conflicts between Russia and the Crimean Tatars.
- Despite the ongoing War and Poland's Eurovision 2019 entry "Fire of Freedom" advocating for peace, the situation of Jamala, a Eurovision winner known for her music addressing historical Conflicts, remains a pressing issue.
