- Russia launches extensive aerial attacks against Ukraine

Russia initiates a significant aerial assault on Ukraine during the wee hours, employing rockets, cruise missiles, and drones. Witnesses in Kyiv state this as one of the most substantial aerial attacks in the past 2.5 years of conflict. Explosions were reported in Kyiv's outskirts and areas such as Kyiv, Chernihiv, Ternopil, and Lviv, as indicated by the official air alert app. Kyiv is currently grappling with electricity supply issues, as confirmed by Mayor Vitali Klitschko via Telegram.

Eleven Russian long-range bombers in action

As per the Ukrainian Air Force's account, the Russian military temporarily deployed eleven Tu-95 bombers, capable of carrying cruise missiles. Moreover, hypersonic Kinzhal missiles were reportedly launched at Ukraine. The assault wasn't limited to land, as Ukraine was also struck from the Black Sea.

At the moment, there's no comprehensive account of casualties and damages. Preliminary reports suggest that Ukraine's energy infrastructure once again serves as the primary target of the attack. Ukraine has been fending off a major Russian invasion since February 2022. Over the weekend, Europe's second-largest country celebrated its 33rd Independence Day.

The Russian military utilized eleven Tu-95 bombers in their aerial assault, contributing to the extensive use of aircraft during the attack. Despite the assault, Ukraine continues to operate its air defenses, attempting to protect its infrastructure from further damage.
