Russia attacks energy facilities in the north

According to Ukrainian reports, Russian troops sent 22 Drones and at least one Rakete in the northern part of Ukraine in the night. They seem to be targeting Ukraine once again with their focus on the Crimea. A munitions depot near a military airport is reported to have been hit.

Energy facilities in neighboring Ukraine have been hit again in nighttime Drone and Rocket attacks by Russia. According to Ukrenerho's statement on Facebook, affected areas were in the regions of Schitomir and Tschernihiw. In the vicinity of Schitomir, the power supply to households and industries was disrupted temporarily but was mostly restored by morning. The repair works were ongoing.

According to the Ukrainian military, Russia used 22 Drones and at least one Iskander-M Rocket for the attack. The air defense reportedly intercepted 20 Drones. However, both warring parties often report high interception rates while significant damage to the ground still occurs. Ukrainian media published images of a strike in the city of Kramatorsk in the Donezk region. The authorities have yet to make statements regarding the damages, and it is unclear whether the reported Iskander-Rakete caused the strike.

On the other side, there were also several explosions on the Crimea, which has been under Russian control since 2014. Videos show a large fire. Unconfirmed media reports suggest that a munitions depot near the military airport Saki was hit. Residents in the western towns of Dobruschino, Nowoozerne, and the city of Evpatoria reported multiple explosions around 1 AM local time. Explosions were also heard in Simferopol. The Russian Defense Ministry commented on the attack with only the report of Drone launches over the regions of Rostov and Kursk.

The Political implications of Russia's continuous Drone and Rocket attacks on Ukraine's energy supply are under scrutiny. These attacks, including the one on a munitions depot near a military airport in Crimea, are seen as acts of Crime against Ukraine. The disruption of energy supply in regions like Schitomir and Tschernihiw highlights the crucial role of energy supply in Politics and society.
